Japanese Name Generator is an informational and creative tool: names for stories, games, pen names and curiosity, with readings and meanings. It is not a registry, a translation service or professional advice.

Names, readings and meanings are provided as they are. Before you use a Japanese name on an official document, a contract, a business or a tattoo, check it with a native speaker. We are not responsible for a name that turns out to be wrong, unusual or unsuitable for your purpose.

• Names you generate are yours to use; you do not need to credit us.
• You may link to any page and quote short extracts with a link back.
• Our written text, page designs and the way we have compiled the data are ours. Please do not copy the site wholesale, resell it, or scrape it so fast that it slows the service for others.
• Some of the underlying data belongs to others and has its own license, and the converter’s name dictionary is shared under CC BY-SA 4.0 because it is built partly from JMnedict. Credits are on How we check names (JMnedict and KANJIDIC2: CC BY-SA 4.0).

Do not use the site to break the law, attack the service or try to get around its limits.

The site is provided as it is, without promises that it is accurate, complete or always available. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from using it.

We may change the site or these terms. When we do, we update the date at the top of the page; continuing to use the site means you accept the new terms.
